(PASO ROBLES, CA) - Experience the beautiful wine country of Paso Robles from a unique perspective…for runners and spectators. For avid runners, this event is quite different from most events.
The half marathon (13.1 miles) and the 5K race (3.1 miles) will take place in the actual vineyards of Meridian Vineyards and neighboring Vina de Leon and Silverado SLO Vineyards/Firehouse.
Approximately 9 miles of the half-marathon are on all-weather (dirt) roads instead of asphalt or concrete. Registered runners will receive a technical shirt, goody bag and a hot breakfast after the event prepared by the Bearcat Athletic Boosters.
The goal of this event is to attract 2,000 participants with the potential to net over $50,000 for the athletic programs. The event organizers are working to promote the Wine Vine Run as a “destination race” for runners that travel to participate in unique venues and settings.
Last year’s event attracted participants from 7 states and two countries. Student athletes get involved in the volunteer effort that takes well over 100 people. Local service clubs are encouraged to get involved. The pasta feed dinner on Saturday at Meridian Vineyards kicks offthe event.
Runners, families and guests are invited to attend with advance ticket purchase.
